We are almost a month away from our next event on 7th February and have had a very creative and musical festive season preparing for this show and a gig on 3 January at The Alley Cat Club in Denmark Street, Soho a.k.a Tin Pan Alley. (See Photo by Ali press)
Jo Winning who performed at the second and third She17 nights, asked us to be her back up band along with her brother-in-Law Michael, on Percussion. It wasn’t even a year ago that we started running our She17 events, and if asked last January how we’d feel about playing in this famous Soho street, my guess is we may have been too intimidated by the prospect. Instead after four She17 events (hosting, performing, promoting, sound equipment set-up and venue sourcing) we’ve grown in confidence, and through the process our playing (maybe singing too) has also improved!
January is going to be a busy month as we have a very full bill for the next show and a few new songs to learn too! We’re putting our admission up too to £2.50 in order to reflect the increased popularity and cost of running the show. So here’s to another year of creating more women’s music in North East London She17 Style.
