#Shefest Line-Up now announced

Our next event is Friday 18th September as part of the Stowfestival.

Venue: The Grove Cafe/La Ruana, 21 Hatherley Mews, off Hoe Street, Walthamstow E17.

£3 on the door from 7.45pm. Show starts 8pm.

We’ve now programmed a great night of strictly local lady acts as follows:

THIS IS CLEO –  Are She17 favourites Carole Kenrick local  singer/guitarist and songwriter, sometimes joined by her pal Ellie. Their vocal harmonies are sublime and Carole’s Brel covers are second to none.  Here’s how she describes what This is Cleo is about.

Crow Hall She17

CROW HALL – Making their She17 debut at #Shefest are blue grass trio Crow Hall who blend cello, uke and banjo (and cocktails whilst rehearsing)! The three met via a combination of playing with  Walthamstow Acoustic Massive and a Twitter appeal for a Cellist.

They will be supporting SULK in E17 too (see below). We’ll let them explain their name on the night!

 

LADY PRESIDENT – are an E17 based three piece who were formed just after last year’s Shefest.

Fronted by Rebecca Jade (vocals, rhythm guitar, Casio-Tone and bass) with Anna Shorten (percussion, froggy, glockenspiel, melodica and vocals) and Kimmi Watson-Desprez (Bass, lead guitar, vocals and harmonica), Lady President have gigged regularly in North East London. With a unique blend of new wave, alt-folk and a nod to prog, they claim to have invented the genre “frog rock”.  Their last gig was at The Walthamstow Garden Party in July as part of the Stow festival showcase (pictured). Sam Kurt
SAM KURT – A passionate acoustic artist who’s original sound is a blend of indie-folk with hints of country, Sam lives in Loughton and gigs regularly in E17 and surrounding areas, both solo and as part of the newly formed duo SmithSound. Sam is the only musician to play at all main She17 events to date, which she describes as ” a Hub of positivity that embraces performers and captures audiences alike. Have to say – Hats off and thank you Kim , Angie and Ruby!”

SILVI

SILVI – With a sound that’s one part alt-country, one part folk, and two parts americana rock, it doesn’t matter what you call it as long as you like it. silvi’s songs are a mix of real life and fiction. She has a voice that is sultry and emotional and accompanies it with some simple but melodic rhythm guitar. She is currently working on her first solo album. SULK  2014 E17

Formed in Spring 1993 SULK are songwriting Duo Kim Watson and Angie Hillcoat. In November 2013 they were joined by Pam Donaldson on bass and percussion and Tracy Dover on BVs and percussion. Earlier this year they released their Ghost of Girl EP as a CD and download as featured on She17 in January http://www.she17.com/sulk-ghost-of-a-girl-ep/   Sulk with be headlining at the Warrant Officer 38 Highams Hill Road E17 on Saturday 26th Septmeber with new local blue grass trio  Crow Hall in support from 8.30pm.
