Jingle Belles at The Wildcard Brewery

Saturday 12th December saw us try out at a new venue with no hire costs, and an open door/open to the public (and so we were told) no under 18s policy.   It was a good experience and a reminder of why we do She17 for women and why we usually prefer to book private spaces and charge a small door fee to cover those hire costs, keeping it  family friendly too.

When we arrived, having had a meet with the manager in previous weeks and on the day of the event, and were pointed to a small corner next to the Christmas tree (which was obscuring one of the PA speakers) we may have despaired a little!   Next the power cut out and we knew then that this would be a challenging night!    The venue was already packed from an earlier event in the area that day.  We had little room to manoeuvre and a lot of equipment, some dodgy mike to jack leads to content with and limited time to set up each band.  We did it…just!

In the end it turned out fine, the music went well: Sam Kurt, Crow Hall, This is Cleo and Lady President each playing great 20 minute sets including a few festive and current covers. We had great feedback from friends and family who came to the event, which was nice despite stress of the start of night. There was a food booked by The Wildcard by Choi Boys too!!!

The real positive for us was DJ Dolores Rocket who played some great lady inspired  dance tunes and so we partied until midnight and soon got over ourselves. Next year we’ll book a more private venue for our Festive  party!

A review of our year follows shortly.

We’ll be back in February with a She17 and Under event. Venue TBA as our quest for a new home continues.
